About Dalil Tech

Dalil Tech makes free, no-nonsense calculators and guides for people who run their own gear: homelab and self-hosting enthusiasts and 3D-printing makers. No signup, no fluff, no tracking beyond an anonymous page count.

What this site is

"Dalil" means a guide or a directory. The idea is simple: when you are about to buy drives, size a UPS, plan a RAID array, or price a 3D print, you should be able to get a clear, correct answer in seconds, without wading through ads or sign-up walls. Every tool here does one job well, and every guide explains a real decision in plain terms.

How the calculators are built

Each calculator runs entirely in your browser. The math behind it is written as a small, isolated module with its own automated test suite, so the formulas are checked on every change rather than trusted by hand. The calculations are transparent: the guides spell out the exact formula each tool uses, so you can verify the numbers yourself. Where a result is an estimate, such as battery runtime, we say so plainly instead of implying false precision.

How the guides are written

The guides come from hands-on experience, not from rephrasing a spec sheet. The 3D-printing material guides, for example, are written by someone who has actually run PLA, PETG, ABS, and ASA for years in a hot, dusty climate, so the advice on warping, dry storage, and which plastic survives the sun is real, not theoretical. We lead with the practical answer, give concrete numbers and settings, and skip the filler. When something is a tradeoff rather than a rule, we say which way we lean and why.

Accuracy and corrections

We keep the guides current. When a tool changes or a fact shifts, we review and update the guides that depend on it. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it.

Privacy

There are no accounts, no newsletters, and no third-party trackers following you around. The only analytics is a privacy-respecting, cookie-free page count, so we can see which tools people find useful. Affiliate links, where they appear, are clearly disclosed.
